Man arrested for passing “funny money” Decatur man allegedly paid for cell phones using movie money By: JJ Vincent Posted: Dec 26, 2017 05:54 PM CST Decatur Police Department More headlines Monquie O’Neal Williams has been arrested on theft of property charges stemming from purchased of merchandise using fake money. On August 4, 2017, a resident of Decatur met with a man, later identified as Monquie O’Neal Williams, in reference to selling a Samsung cell phone.  The victim sold the cell phone to Williams, who paid the victim a total of $600.00. The victim later realized the money used to purchase the cell phone was “For Motion Picture Use Only” money and held no value. Detective Ferguson was assigned the case and began an investigation. Williams was developed as the primary suspect in the case and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On September 12, 2017, an additional resident of Decatur met with a man, later identified as Monquie O’Neal Williams, in reference to selling an iPhone. The victim sold the cell phone to Williams, who paid the victim a total of $500.00 for the cell phone. Again, the victim later realized the money used to purchase the cell phone was “For Motion Picture Use Only” money and held no value.
