Gateway Pundit Writer Tweets, Deletes ‘Funny’ Trump/CNN 9/11 Meme

Lucian B. Wintrich (VICE News screen grab)

This past week, as the controversy over President Donald Trump tweeting a video of him attacking Vince McMahon at WrestleMania in 2007, with the CNN logo superimposed over McMahon’s head, there were numerous types of responses.

One was that users of sites such as Reddit decided to one-up the memes with others that pushed the bounds of taste further.

On Wednesday, Lucian B. Wintrich, a writer for Gateway Pundit, a popular conservative website, tweeted an image of Trump flying into a CNN-themed World Trade Center. The tweet was quickly deleted, but it got screen-grabbed and various Twitter users asked Wintrich why he removed it:

Wintrich replied, saying that he took the tweet down when followers asked him to, but that he still thought the meme, which was sent to him by a “friend in the Marines,” was funny:

Yes, sent to me by my friend in the Marines -and I stand by it being funny. Taken down due to requests.

Wintrich also sent the same tweet, verbatim, to someone also who asked him if the screenshot was of something that he had actually tweeted.
